Lifestyle Counseling

Lifestyle counseling includes counseling on diet, exercise, stress reduction and other safe, natural therapies. Whether you're more interested in prevention strategies or looking for a treatment program for a particular health condition, I can help.

Whole Food Nutritional Therapy

The best sources of vitamins and minerals are found in whole foods and that is why I believe in providing my patients with supplements that contain whole food ingredients. While I encourage my patients to eat fresh foods that are naturally high in nutrients—vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients that help the body to thrive and maintain health, most patients will benefit from supplementing their diet to bridge this nutritional gap.

Carroll Food Intolerance Method

Included in every first office visit, this is an old naturopathic method of determining which foods do not digest or metabolize well in a particular digestive system, thereby contributing to toxemia. Toxemia contributes to inflammation in the body and inflammation is at the base of many disease processes. Toxemia is the product of mal-digestive dysbiotic processes in the intestines, creating toxic substances that enter the bloodstream and disturb tissue function.

Contact Reflex Analysis (CRA)

This is a simple, safe, natural method of analyzing the body's structural, metabolic, and nutritional needs. It is not a method for diagnosis. It is a means by which I'm able to use the body's reflexes to accurately determine the root cause of a health problem.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a unique form of bodywork that bridges the realms of both physical palpation and energetic work.  This form of therapy restores your body’s natural craniosacral rhythm by releasing myofascial restrictions and assists the hydraulic force of the cerebrospinal fluid to flow in sync between the cranium and sacrum. By pinpointing the source of obstruction or stress in the body, it’s possible to re-establish balance in a number of sensory, motor, or neurological disabilities. Common effects of this form of treatment consist of: an increase in physical vitality; psycho-emotional balance; a reduction in headaches; decrease in pain caused by the disease or treatments for the disease; relaxation and reduction in stress.

Visceral Manipulation

Visceral manipulation assists functional and structural imbalances throughout the body including musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, urogenital, respiratory, digestive and lymphatic dysfunction. It evaluates and treats the dynamics of motion and suspension in relation to organs, membranes, fascia and ligaments. VM increases proprioceptive communication within the body, thereby revitalizing a person and relieving symptoms of pain, dysfunction, and poor posture.

Homeopathic Medicine

Homeopathy is a system of medicine that is over 200 years old and is utilized as primary medicine in the majority of the world. Homeopathy's first tenet is the principle of similars:  A substance that can cause symptoms in a healthy person possibly can stimulate self-healing in a person with an illness presenting similar symptoms. Instead of covering up symptoms, homeopathy stimulates the body to heal itself. Through the application of a minute amount of a substance (plant, animal, or mineral), the body's metabolism is stimulated to correct its imbalance.

Cell Salt Therapy

Cell salt therapy is a subset of homeopathy. The 12 cell salts are thought to have both nutritive and homeopathic activity. They are known to enhance nutritional supplements and restore function instead of replace function.

Psychosomatic Energetic Therapy (PSE)

Developed by Dr. Reimar Banis, M.D., the method of using PSE allows for the detection of emotionally-caused energy blockades.  The method combines Psyche (mind), Soma (body) and Energetics (subtle energy) that results in a deep spiritual healing method that can change and heal people from the ground up. Once a blockage is discovered, combined homeopathic drops are used to permanently resolve conflicts.

Bach Flower Therapy

Developed by doctor and researcher Dr. Edward Bach, "flower therapy" focuses on the mental and emotional factors as causes of illness. Bach flower therapy has the ability to normalize psychic disruptions, resolve inner conflicts, and improve physical conditions that have recognizable psychic causes or symptoms. This form of therapy can be helpful when these conflicts cause us to suffer in our everyday lives. Bach flower therapy works especially well as a companion form of treatment to Homeopathy.

Hydrotherapy

In hydrotherapy, the environment of the body is changed by means of water at varying temperatures and applied by various mechanical means in the treatment of disease or trauma. Constitutional hydrotherapy can be particularly beneficial for patients with low immune status as just one hydrotherapy session can boost your WBC count by 10,000 cells on average within 2-8 hours. For years it's been used to help detoxify heavy metal exposures, chemical toxicity, and the daily toxic buildup from improper diet and lifestyle. It can be used as an adjunct treatment for most conditions, including respiratory infections (acute infections:  sinusitis, whooping cough, pneumonia; as well as chronic respiratory infections), asthma, PMS, psoriasis, irritable bowel syndrome, and many others.

Botanical Medicine

Also known as herbal medicine, botanical medicine is a system of medicine based on the use of plants or plant extracts that may be orally consumed or applied to the skin. It can be used to address a variety of conditions and assist bodily functions.

Gemmotherapy

Different from botanical medicine that uses parts of the mature plant, gemmotherapy makes extractions from the growing embyronic vegetal tissues such as young shoots, buds, and rootlets. It is more potent than the whole herbs and plants as these germinating parts contain plant growth hormones, simialr to stem cells in humans. Gemmotherapy has a multi-level effect on the body and can be used in nearly all health conditions. It is considered a form of drainage therapy as it first detoxifies on the cellular level and then assists in waste removal through the organs of elimination.

Clinical Biofeedback

Biofeedback is a mind-body technique that helps people use their own bodily signals to elicit changes in autonomic physiological reactions. Conditions which often respond to biofeedback include:  anxiety, ADD/ADHD, chronic pain, fatigue, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome, migraine headaches, asthma, chronic insomnia, and more.

Cold Laser Therapy

Using the most advanced Class III low level light laser, the LZ30-X provides both infrared and red wavelengths and is the highest power of its class. The LZ30-X minimizes treatment time and maximizes results as clinical evidence demonstrates that increased power improves therapeutic outcomes within the class 3B range.

The main uses for cold laser therapy are tissue repair and relief from pain and inflammation. It can be effective for minor injuries and sprains, arthritis, chronic autoimmune diseases, chronic pain, skin rejuvenation, and hard-to-heal wounds.

Below are photos taken of an actual patient under my care using a series of cold laser therapy treatments to help address a non-healing skin ulcer of over 8 years.
